Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor

On August 23, 2003 at 13:56 hrs. Santa Barbara County Fire Engine 31 responded with mutual aid units to a report of a brush fire in Cebada Canyon near the historic La Purisima Mission. Firefighter Veale received several electrical shocks in the process of pulling a fellow firefighter off an 8,000 volt power line.
