Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor

October 26, 2003, Deputies Mark Johnston and Mario Tano put their lives and personal safety on the line for the citizens that we are commissioned to serve. They went back into heavy fire and choking smoke to check on and rescue people and animals that otherwise may have perished in this fire. After successfully escaping this blaze themselves these Deputies went on helping burn victims and assisted with investigating the deaths that occurred in the Barona Reservation area on October 26th.
