Gold Medal of Valor
Officer Bryson arrived at the scene of a fiery multi-car collision on Interstate 80 in Berkeley and was informed two children were still trapped in one of the burning cars. He approached the vehicle, opened the rear door and, disregarding the shooting flames, leaned far into the vehicle to find a small boy cringing on the floor. Officer Bryson pulled the boy from the vehicle, secured him with a bystander and returned to the same vehicle to search for the second child. It wasn't until later he learned that the second child had already been removed from the vehicle
