Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor

On January 10, 2005, Officer Patrick "Tank" Sears of the Ventura Police Department was dispatched to the mudslides of La Conchita. He rendered immediate assistance by locating victims trapped inside collapsed homes covered by a mud wall as high as thirty feet and exposed to hazards of ruptured gas lines, downed live power lines and danger of explosion and fire.
