Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor

On January 1, 2003 at approximately 0828 hours, Apparatus Operator Rogers took one step toward his fellow Firefighter, set the chain saw down, and then took two to three steps and grabbed the fellow Firefighter by the shoulder of his turnout coat. Apparatus Operator Rogers partilly broke through the roof surfaceas pulled out the fellow firefighter back to the ridge of the roof to attempt to pull him out. Roger's was the linchpin for the rescuers, as he held onto the firefighter who had fallen through a roof. Rogers sustained serious burns to his hand, and arm and leg.
