Lt. Graydon Harn stopped at a Napa drugstore to buy some medicine when he noticed a man holding a knife to the throat of a young woman clerk. Instead of shooting, Officer Harn succeeded in using his service revolver to strike the man on the head, disarming the suspect, and leading to his capture. Officer Harn placed his own life in jeopardy but eliminated the possibility of accidental injury to the victims of the robbery who would have been in the line of fire.
