Gold Medal of Valor
On July 29, 1986, California Highway Patrol Officers Adam Christin and Guillermo Godinez rescued a man trapped inside a pickup truck that had caught fire after crashing into a barrier on the San Diego Freeway. The truck exploded shortly after they dragged him from the cab. Officer Christin endangered his personal safety and risked his life in order to save the life of a helpless victim. The quick and selfless actions of Officer Christin were above and beyond the call and scope of duty.
