Traffic Officer Grant Clemens pulled a man to safety who was trapped in a burning vehicle on the Santa Clara River Bridge near Ventura. The vehicle was one of two fully engulfed in flames when Officer Clemens reached the scene. He initially tried to enter through one of the doors, but that was unsuccessful, so he then broke the rear window with his baton and pulled the man to safety seconds before the car’s interior was fully engulfed in flames. Officer Clemens sustained first and second degree burns during the rescue.
