In a vacant building adjacent to his home in Boulder Creek, Mr. Lee heard an explosion followed by a boy’s scream. Unable to see inside the building because of the dense smoke, Mr. Lee entered on his hands and knees, located the 13 year old boy by his cries and carried him outside. Mr. Lee smothered fire from the youth’s face and clothing. Mr. Lee reentered the burning building to search for two other boys he had seen earlier playing nearby. He carefully searched the building and then left to aid and comfort the injured boy until the ambulance arrived. When fireman reached the scene, they were unable to enter the building because of the choking smoke.
