On October 12, 2012, at approximately 5:42 p.m., Fish and Game Warden Arthur Golden was driving home from training when he came upon the scene of an accident near Corcoran. The small pickup truck involved in the accident was off the side of the roadway on a steep embankment. A bystander told him the man in the truck was not breathing and Warden Golden rushed to the truck to check. The driver was lying against the passenger side door, seemingly unconscious, bleeding from his face. Warden Golden radioed for help then went back to the truck. It was hovering precariously on the embankment and the driver’s body weight was going with the slope. The driver’s door was smashed in and the passenger’s door could not be opened, so Warden Golden leaned through the broken driver’s side window and supported him. The vehicle slid a few inches. Warden Golden asked the man if he could move his neck and when he replied by moving it, Warden Golden pulled the man towards him to relieve the pressure on the door and hopefully prevent it from rolling over. As Warden Golden was doing this, aid arrived and the man was extracted from the vehicle.
